Aquinas Catholic College to Host "All Day Long" Homosexualist Even

Aquinas Catholic College to Host "All Day Long" Homosexualist Event

By James Tillman

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, October 8, 2009 (
LifeSiteNews.com) - Aquinas College, a Catholic college located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is planning to hold an event titled "Love is everywhere … AQ Celebrates Human Rights" this coming Monday. The event features showings of multiple movies about homosexuals, a "coming out" story, and "ribbons and face-painting to celebrate our unique differences," according to the college website.

The prospective event will take place "all day long" at various locations and times on the campus.

Founded by Dominican Sisters in 1886, Aquinas College is an institution "rooted in the Catholic Dominican tradition," according to its website. It states that on campus "Values, ethics, and morality are explored in the context of Judeo-Christian ethics and Catholic teaching with full respect for other religious traditions, academic freedom, and personal conscience."

Nevertheless, despite professed adherence to the Catholic tradition, the proposed event explores views profoundly contrary to those advanced by the Church.

The two films that will be shown during the event are "Seven Passages - The Stories of Gay Christians," and "Milk." The first movie features characters who advance revisionist interpretations of the scriptural passages that have traditionally been seen as evidence that sodomy is a sin. Conversation with the key players in the film will follow the screening. The second movie is a celebration of the life of Harvey Milk, the murdered homosexual "gay rights" activist elected to the San Francisco board of supervisors.

The event will also have training and information regarding how to be an "'AQ certified' Safe Zone advocate" for the Aquinas College campus. Safe Zones have been established at colleges around the US as areas where homosexuals may feel welcomed and accepted.

The event, in addition to being sponsored by Aquinas' Campus Life, is also sponsored by the student organization The Alliance. The Alliance is described on Aquinas College's website as having the mission of bringing "inclusiveness to the Aquinas College community." The Alliance's facebook page describes itself as "Serving Aquinas' LGBTQIA community by promoting education, tolerance, community, and love in their purest forms. Let's all hug."

The event will also feature a "coming out" story by Dave Craft, facilitator of Allies and Advocates Training. Allies and Advocates Training is designed to bring about a campus climate in which homosexual students feel "respected" and "affirmed."

Aquinas College has been previously been at the center of controversy due to similar issues. In 2008 it cancelled the appearance of John Corvino and his lecture "What's Morally Wrong with Homosexuality?" This lecture "examines and dismantles the most common arguments against homosexual conduct" according to an online biography.
In 2003, the college's commencement speaker
was the strongly pro-abortion Roger Wilkins, who has served on NARAL's National Commission on America Without Roe and participated in a Washington, D.C. press conference presenting the commission's report.

A spokesman for Aquinas College declined to comment, disclaiming any detailed knowledge of the event.

A NEW LOW, EVEN BY JESUIT STANDARDS: Georgetown Univ.

Our take: I don't want to be accused of stating the obvious but this pathetic display is completely contrary to the mission of a Catholic University and not befitting the oldest Catholic school in America. There is a clear teaching on the issue of homosexuality and anything that condones, empowers or glosses over the morally and naturally disordered act of sodomy is contrary to it. Sex outside marriage is sin. homosexual sex is sin plus disorder. Yet at Georgetown it is being glorified with a "temple" and is draining resources, energy and attention away from the mission of the school. Teaching truth isn't even a consideration since it might offend someone. Shame, shame, shame.

A NEW LOW, EVEN BY JESUIT STANDARDS: Georgetown Univ. Announces Director for Their New Lesbian, Gay, Transgendered, and Queer Resources Center

8/24/2008 9:34:00 PM
By www.thehoya.com -Connie Parham

Matthew 18:6 - He that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea. As painters work to put the finishing touches on the newly created LGBTQ Resource Center, the center's first director, Sivagami Subbaraman, has been working to make a presence for the center as students arrive back to campus.

Subbaraman arrived at Georgetown four weeks ago to begin preparing the center, located adjacent to the Women's Center on the third floor of the Leavey Center.

GU Pride began pushing for the resource center last fall after two alleged hate crimes against Georgetown students, kicking off a university-wide movement led by GU Pride for increased inclusion of and education about the LGBTQ community on campus.

In October, University President John J. DeGioia approved several of GU Pride's requests, including the formation of three working groups that would address reporting, resources and education. Four months later, DeGioia announced his approval and backing of a proposal created by the working group on resources for an LGBTQ resource center.

After DeGioia's announcement, a committee began a nationwide search for the LGBTQ director. Subbaraman said she was invited to two interviews on campus, and, in May, Vice President for Student Affairs Todd Olson issued a letter to the university community naming Subbaraman as the center's first director.

"I really hope the center will be a space for LGBTQ students, faculty and staff as well as non-LGBTQ people," Subbaraman said of her vision for the center.

Subbaraman, originally from India, came to the United States almost 26 years ago to complete her education, attending graduate school at the University of Illinois, where she studied English and Women's Studies. Most recently, Subbaraman served as associate director of the University of Maryland's Office of LGBT Equity.

Subbaraman said she has a broader vision for the center that extends beyond her experience at the University of Maryland.

"I learned a lot from [Maryland]," she said. "But I think what I will bring to this job is where LGBT issues fit into general diversity."

Subbaraman said that one of her visions for the center is to help LGBTQ issues to be seen as part of a larger set of diversity issues, rather than in its own category.

"I don't want to be put back into the closet," she said.

Subbaraman said she plans to hire a full-time program coordinator by the end of the fall, as well as possibly a few student employees.

Subbaraman said at this early point, she is not sure what other concrete goals she has for the center and that she will first need to start a discussion with faculty, administrators and students.
"I need to build on that momentum and keep up that energy," she said of the work done by students and faculty last year.

Subbaraman said that working at Georgetown, which has such a strong Jesuit identity, will bring a "different set of challenges" than those that came with working at the University of Maryland, a school without a religious affiliation. She added, though, that she attended Catholic school in India, which made her "very comfortable in the Catholic education environment."

"I feel the university is committed to making this succeed," she said. "The center exists. That says something."

Jack Harrison (SFS '09), co-chair of GU Pride, also said he hopes to work closely with the new director in developing programming for the year.

While she said she could not comment on GU Pride's demonstrations last year, she did say that she hopes to work with the group to look at new ways to lead the community.

"In general the model that prevails is activism," she said. "We need to create other forms of leadership that will take us from the activist mold."

Harrison said GU Pride is looking to launch efforts this year to make the campus more "trans-friendly" by working to provide bathrooms and better housing options for transgender individuals.

In addition, he said he believes it is important to bring more diversity to the organization, particularly in bringing a greater variety of political views to the group.

Harrison said Subbaraman's work as the first director of the center will help to catalyze these efforts.

"Having a person who can advocate for our issues is a big achievement," he said.

He said Subbaraman has already emerged as a leader over the past week in training and giving presentations to members of various groups such as Young Leaders in Education about Diversity, New Student Orientation and Residence Life.

"I think that as people become slightly more sensitized, that will start to have a big effect on how LGBTQ people are treated on campus," Harrison said.

Subbaraman said she will be holding an open house on Tuesday afternoon and plans to make herself visible among students and parents throughout move-in weekend.

Looking on as workers finish construction of a large window next to the entrance to the center, Subbaraman said she hopes to continue the hard work of students and faculty in order to raise awareness for the LGBTQ community at Georgetown.

"The message it sends is 'we are open,'" she said of the new window. "We are open. We have nothing to hide."

"Catholic" University Hires Homosexual Director for Gay Campus Centre

Note: Georgetown is the gift that keeps on giving for those of us looking for evidence of apostasy in Catholic higher education. They're so far gone they don't even know it. Is this their response to the Pope's call to fidelity?

Catholic University Hires Homosexual Director for Gay Campus Centre

By Tim Waggoner

Washington, D.C., June 5, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Georgetown University, the oldest Catholic University in the U. S., has hired lesbian Shiva Subbaraman to act as director for its new Homosexual Campus centre that is to be opened in the fall.

Subbaraman was formerly the associate director of a homosexual equity office at the University of Maryland campus in College Park. After the school threatened to cut funding for the office, Subbaraman started looking for a new job.

The pro-homosexual newspaper, The Washing Blade, reports that Georgetown decided to start the LGBT Equity office after two "anti-gay incidents" occured on campus. In the first case a student was arrested and accused of assaulting a homosxual student and shouting anti-homosexual slurs at him. The case, however, was dropped due to lack of evidence. In the second incident campus police prevented a group of homosexuals from presenting a petition for the LGBT resource center to the university president. According to the Blade, the police said they were restricting access to the building due to the fact that there was a special event going on inside.

Georgetown University, which is fully funding the new homosexual campus centre, including paying for two full time staff members, has been known to proclaim itself a Catholic institution while going out of its way to support things dramatically opposed to Catholic teaching, including abortion, homosexuality and certain bioethical issues.

In one of the more obvious examples, the institution's High School Bioethics Curriculum Project seeks to provide high school teachers literature on bioethics in an attempt to "enrich their high schools' curriculum." The curriculum however, conveys messages contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church, and poses questions on bioethical quandaries that are worded in such a way as to lead students to make conclusions that oppose Catholic morality.

One sample of the curriculum referring to anencephalic babies (available at http://highschoolbioethics.georgetown.edu/units/unit1_3.html) states that, "They will never be able to think or achieve what is called 'personhood.'"

"Yet there is general consensus that heroic measures should not be used to keep them alive. In fact, anencephaly may be one of the few medical conditions that all doctors agree is futile to treat," continues the sample.

After statements such as these, the section describes a mother who was forced to go to the Supreme Court to force doctors to continue to treat her child, entitled Baby K.

The section then asks questions that seem to ascribe a monetary value to human life, such as, "Do you think individuals have the right to demand and get expensive long-term care in futile cases such as the case of Baby K?"

Similar questions ask: "Baby K lived for 2.5 years; her medical bills totaled half a million dollars. Do you think this is an appropriate use of the money? Do you think Baby K's mother's religious beliefs should trump issues of fair distribution of resources?"

The high school curriculum project is partially funded by a grant from the Greenwall Foundation, an organization known to support the culture of death. (http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/1999/feb/99021705.html)

The latest news about the founding of the LGBT resource center comes as little surprise to those who have been following Georgetown's movement away from its Catholic identity:

Campus Alcoholics Clubs to be Established at Catholic Colleges

Should Drinking Clubs be Allowed on Catholic College Campuses?

A new national group - College Drinkers/Drunk Very Drunk (CD/DVD) recently announced their intention to establish Campus Alcoholics chapters on leading Catholic college campuses. And with that, Campus Alcoholics was formed.

"We think it's time that drunks come out of the closet and fully participate in Catholic higher education," stated the group's founder. "For too long drunks have been looked down upon by other non-drinking members of the college community. At CA meeting you'll meet other drunks in a completely non-judgemental environment."

Immediately, large well-known Catholic colleges jumped on board. One in Washington D.C. at first resisted but under pressure from on-campus drunks announced the full funding of a center for alcoholics. "I never realized how many drunks we already had here!" said the college president. "There may be something about our college that attracts a lot of drunks." The facility will be built using a donation from a foreign prince.

A Catholic college president in the Midwest at first stated that drunkenness is "incompatible with Catholic teaching" but later said the group could operate on campus as long as they "get faculty sponsorship and have a panel discussion" after they get drunk. Another Midwestern College immediately established a chair for alcoholic studies. Finding an alcoholic professor was not a problem.

The smaller Catholic colleges immediately established chapters not wanting to be left behind or considered anachronistic.

A right-wing Catholic group protested that alcoholism is unhealthy, leads to loss of employment, breakup of families, depression, disease, higher suicide rates and early death. They also pointed out that many Catholic priests had problems with alcohol, problems that Bishops covered up, sometimes causing scandal.

"Nonsense" said the group's founder. "That's just old-fashioned anti-drunk intolerance and we're going to fight the haters all the way."

Another Catholic organization suggested that it would be better to treat drunks with compassion and to help them avoid alcohol and bring them to Christ through active ministry. They indicated that it would be un-Catholic to encourage drinking in any way and that establishing clubs on campus could lead to behavior contrary to the Catholic Church's values.

"Another outdated form of bigotry!" claimed the head of Campus Alcoholics. "But not to worry, we have plenty of allies on our side."

Note: There are plenty of organizations, religious and secular, that will help people with alcoholism to get off alcohol and lead healthy and productive lives. Alcoholics need to be treated with compassion but also with the truth about their physical, psychological and spiritual condition.

Next week we'll have a guest columnist from the Fat-Thin Alliance write about wiping out teasing in American high schools.

Pro-Homosexual Clubs at 96 Catholic Universities

Survey Finds Pro-Homosexual Clubs at 96 Catholic Universities in the United States
Catholic group challenges university presidents to disband pro-homosexual groups

By Michael Baggot

SPRING GROVE, PA, March 27, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Volunteers for the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) found that 45% of the websites of 211 major Catholic universities contained information about pro-homosexual clubs.

"Many of these clubs share in the movement's radical goal - to force social acceptance of unnatural vice on Christian America, and gag expressions of free speech that oppose the movement's ideological agenda," warns an official TFP statement.

The TFP statement cites two concrete examples of Catholic universities suppressing the free speech of critics of the pro-homosexual clubs.

In November 2003, members of the TFP Student Action group were kicked off of campus for handing out flyers detailing the Catechism of the Catholic Church's teaching on the sinfulness of homosexual activity.

In October 2005, Duquesne University cited Sophomore Ryan Miner for a violation against the school's anti-discriminatory policy for posting comments on his own blog opposing the formation of a "Gay-Straight Alliance" group. When Miner refused to write a 10-page paper presenting viewpoints for and against homosexuality, he was threatened with expulsion.

Some Catholic universities with a history of pro-homosexual club activity have increased support for the homosexual movement. Georgetown University, for instance, agreed in October 2007 to open and fully fund a center for homosexual students.

"Georgetown hosts mock same-sex "weddings," grants health benefits to the partners of homosexual employees, and provides services for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Youth and their Families," notes Thomas Peters, on his American Papist blog. The Georgetown GU Pride website even includes photos of students of the same sex kissing at a campus event.

The TFP report also lists other prestigious Catholic universities, including Boston College, Fordham, Marquette, Notre Dame, Seton Hall, and Villanova.

The TFP report attributes the growth of the homosexual movement on Catholic campuses to "a gradual blurring of the distinction between good and evil, a generalized loss of the sense of sin, declining standards of public morality, and, as seen above, the persecutory actions taken by college officials against those who do voice their loyalty to Church teaching."

In response to the growth of pro-homosexual activities on Catholic campuses, the TPF is organizing a petition to Catholic university presidents calling on them to disband pro-homosexual groups on campus.

The TFP report also encourages personal phone calls and letters to Catholic university presidents. In addition, TFP is launching a Purity is the Answer Campaign to promote purity, modesty, and temperance as the antidote to disordered passions.

Reaffirming TFP's opposition to the hateful treatment of individuals with same-sex attractions, its report states, "In doing this campaign, we have no intention to defame or disparage anyone. We are not moved by personal hatred against any individual. In intellectually opposing individuals or organizations promoting the homosexual agenda, our only intent is the defense of marriage, the family and the precious remnants of Christian civilization in society."

"As practicing Catholics, we are filled with compassion and pray for those who struggle against unrelenting and violent temptation to sin, be it toward homosexual sin or otherwise," the report adds.

US Catholic University Approves Gay Straight Partnership Club

Note: Here we go again. They just can't seem to help themselves, these apostate Catholic college presidents. In a sick "keep-up-with-the-Joneses" way, they have to make sure they're up with the times and bend over (backwards) to please homosexual groups. They ought to ask themselves, why did homosexuals choose their school in the first place?

US Catholic University Approves Gay Straight Partnership Club
By Thaddeus M. Baklinski

PORTLAND, Oregon, February 20, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The University of Portland, a Catholic university run by the Holy Cross Fathers, has officially recognized the university's first-ever sexuality club, the Gay Straight Partnership (GSP).

The GSP's mission, according to the club's constitution, is "to build a community that is open and welcoming to all students" and "to help all students grow in friendship, knowledge, faith and service."

Although the university administration had turned down previous requests to form a homosexual student's club (in 1994 and 1999), the school was listed in 2004 as a 'gay friendly' institution by homosexual activist website Catholiclesbians.org (see LifeSiteNews.com report: U.S. Homosexual Activist Website Provides List of 'Gay Friendly' Catholic Parishes, http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2004/mar/040330a.html ).

A group of 10 UP students applied for club recognition with Student Activities last November. Their request were approved by University vice president for enrollment management and student life, John Goldrick, after they were asked to amend their proposal to remove a section on networking with other schools and similar clubs in the area, and choosing different advisors.

The club's initial advisers, social work professor Anissa Rogers and Kristina Houck, the Health Center's substance abuse prevention coordinator, were replaced by Holy Cross Fr. John Donato and Stacey Noem, a campus minister.Donato said that he was chosen to be the club's new adviser not only because he can act as a liaison between the administration and the students, but also for his ability to "vocalize and facilitate the mission of the university."

"The fact that I am a Holy Cross priest and the associate vice president for student life is a good way to make sure that this group stays focused for what we hope all student groups are involved in, but also this particular one which deals with the sacred area of human sexuality," Donato said.

Although the Gay Straight Partnership has made pains to state that it will be adhering to Catholic teaching on sexuality, experience has shown pro-family advocates that such alliances typically result in the push to normalize and to affirm as morally acceptable an active homosexual lifestyle amongst university students.

A memo released by the GSP said, "the group will provide balanced programming and education and will offer a clear, faithful presentation of the Catholic Church's teaching about human sexuality and sexual orientation."

However, evidence that the club would promote homosexual behavior as normal and acceptable was offered by Valerie Silliman, Portland's GSP president and co-founder, who said that her "big dream is that [the club] will last for 25 years until we don't even need gay straight alliances because our community would already be welcoming.

"I hope it will encourage gay students to come to our university. I hope that gay students who are here will stay involved on campus rather than being marginalized and feeling alone. I hope that lots of straight people will be involved, and I hope people find answers and find questions."

"I think [the club] opens up new doors that were once closed on this campus due to a lack of diversity," sophomore Brandon Pratt, told The Beacon

Catholic School Board That Winked at Homosexuality Now Approves Golden Compass Books

Catholic lawyer says, It's painful that the Catholic Church itself has not addressed the problem of this wayward board"

By John-Henry Westen WATERLOO, December 6, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An Ontario Catholic school board that did little after being warned of books promoting homosexuality in its school libraries, has now approved the anti-Catholic His Dark Materials trilogy -- of which The Golden Compass is the first novel. While several Catholic school boards in Ontario and other provinces have pulled the controversial books, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board has told the press the books will remain in its school libraries.

Jonathan Wright, the religion and family life consultant for the board, told the local newspaper, The Record, that there will not even be a formal review of the books. He told the paper that he and a few others read the first book "just out of interest" adding, "I suppose that constitutes an informal review, but there will be no formal process at all."

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board was approached early this year by the group Defend Traditional Marriage and Family (DTMF) which was concerned about a teacher resource book promoting homosexuality as well as some thirty similarly objectionable books, videos and pamphlets available to Catholic students in school libraries and guidance offices.

The Board decided to retain the teacher resource book at its main offices but not in all schools but has of yet not dealt with the objectionable materials in the libraries. During the kerfuffle, a board spokesman even referred to DTMF as "an extremist hate group".

Gay Pride Clubs Erupt in Catholic Schools

What's going on up there in our neighbor to the north? One of my favorite and most holy Priest friends is a French-Canadian immigrant who is as faithful an apostle as i've ever met. When did the Church in Canada become so weak as to suffer such insults? Read the article on Lifesite.com.

A pertinent excerpt about gay Clubs is repeated here:

Gay Pride Clubs Erupt in Catholic Schools in Board Embroiled in Homosexuality Controversy

By John-Henry Westen WATERLOO, November 29, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An Ontario Catholic school board approached by a family issues group concerned about pro-homosexual materials in school libraries, is now facing the opening of homosexual student clubs in its high schools.

Hartnett stressed that "pastoral care of students with same sex orientation is not against our teachings as long as we follow the teachings of the Catholic Church."

She said she would likely follow up on the matter now. Asked if she was aware of such clubs prior to the newspaper report, Hartnett replied that she was, "aware that there were some students interested in that." She added again, "Pastorally there's nothing wrong with a group that will support students."

However, identification with a gay and lesbian club can be a negative way to go, according to Courage, a Roman Catholic group which is dedicated to those who struggle with same-sex attraction. Courage has been endorsed by the Pontifical Council for the Family and is approved by the Vatican.

"Having young people who are struggling with gender issues join a "gay-lesbianbisexual- transgender" group will only encourage a false and limiting type of selflabeling," said Courage in a communication to Defend Traditional Marriage and Family (DTMF).

"We believe it is most important to encourage young persons to primarily identify themselves as men and women made in the image of God. Even while acknowledging that their struggles with homosexual feelings or their experiences of gender confusion are real, they should not be encouraged to base their core identity on these difficulties," added Courage. "Christian anthropology teaches that we are created male and female - it does not teach that we are created gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered. Subjective feelings, thoughts and struggles, while real, do not translate into "identity". Also, these particular labels are often associated with political causes which are incompatible with Catholic moral teaching."

Catholic School Board Committee Approves Pro-Gay Manual, Does Not Teach Homosexual Acts Sinful

Our take - the local Bishop must move to protect the Catholicity of the institutions under his authority for the sake of the good and honest Catholic families that send their children to "Catholic" schools. If this moral decay is allowed to progress in Catholic schools, eventually there will not be any. We already are seeing a generation of religious illiterates as a result of failed religious education programs. This incident is a direct result of the secularization of religion.

Director of the Board says, "differences of opinion in areas like theology, faith, and morals" is "natural and healthy for a living, dynamic Church"

By John-Henry Westen

WATERLOO, Ontario, November 2, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Family Life Advisory Committee (FLAC) of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) met last night to consider objections to a pro-homosexual teacher resource manual which were raised by the local group Defend Traditional Marriage and Family (DTMF). Despite a petition signed by nearly 500 Catholic parents opposing the book, FLAC decided to retain "Open Minds to Equality" in an 11-5 vote.

Page 16 of the book states: "The heterosexism in our society fosters homophobia, the fear and hatred of homosexuality which is grounded in prejudice and stereotyping." The book provides role play and group activities which train children into viewing the homosexual lifestyle as normal and natural.

Of note, at the meeting one of the members, asked if students in the Catholic schools of the board are taught "that homosexual acts" are sinful. The response from the board was "no."

Gay Clubs at Catholic Colleges

In 1986, the Magisterium issued the instruction, the Letter to Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons. The then Cardinal Ratzinger wrote, "All support should be withdrawn from any organizations which seek to undermine the teaching of the Church, which are ambiguous about it, or which neglect it entirely. Such support, or even the semblance of such support, can be gravely misinterpreted. Special attention should be given to the practice of scheduling religious services and to the use of Church buildings by these groups, including the facilities of Catholic schools and colleges. [emphasis mine] To some, such permission to use Church property may seem only just and charitable; but in reality it is contradictory to the purpose for which these institutions were founded, it is misleading and often scandalous."

Yet why do schools like Georgetown seem hellbent on doing all they can to edify the homosexual groups on their campuses? One school we wrote about, St. Michael's College in Vermont, has more gay clubs, three, than Catholic service or ministry ones. Can one say with certainty that these colleges are not Catholic in light of the statement by then Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI?

The new President of Assumption, Francesco C. Cesareo, tried to make some room for the existence of Gay clubs on Catholic campuses when he said the following:

"Regarding homosexuality, all men and women are created in the image of God and thus deserve respect because of the basic human dignity we all share. Therefore, on a Catholic campus it is not uncommon or inconsistent to have support groups for gay students since this is a concrete expression of the church's call for respect. This does not mean that we endorse or advocate this lifestyle or behavior. Gay student organizations must operate within the parameters of church teachings by not sponsoring any activities that promote a homosexual lifestyle or same-sex marriage as legitimate lifestyles."

Unfortunately the means these groups use to get a foothold at these colleges is pure deception. They play on the tradition of Christian charity and tolerance and twist it to the point where the Catholic institution is actually helping establish and fund a club who's primary purpose is a place for hookups for those who practice sodomy.

Such deception and the willingness to be deceived have led to an explosion in such clubs, a distraction from the mission of the institution and an eroding of basic morality. A Church hierarchy itself compromised by homosexuality stands by and allows such things no matter how loud the faithful protest.

The Ivory Tower Heretics are in charge.

Catholic Georgetown University to Fully Fund Campus Gay Center

Our take - It's really no surprise the extremes once-Catholic universities like Georgetown will go to to appease secular progressive and Gay organizations while sticking a finger in the eyes of Church leadership. Until a Bishop with some real backbone removes the Catholic designation from one of these apostate schools, devout Catholics will suffer these insults. These Gay clubs are notorious for using "tolerance" as a Trojan horse to get their footing on Catholic campuses. What goes on inside these clubs certainly violates everything Catholic moral teaching stands for. I doubt this college president has any idea what he has done. Then again...

Co-president of GU Pride, Scott Chessare, responded by exclaiming “We won!”

By Hilary White WASHINGTON, DC October 30, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The president of prestigious Georgetown University, the oldest Catholic university in the United States, has promised homosexual activists that the school will fully fund a center for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and "questioning" (LGBTQ) students by next fall. The pro-homosexual nature of the center is rejection of what is considered serious Catholic moral teaching.

President John DeGioia told media, "How do we respond to legitimate requests for a more supportive environment? We can continue to do this in a somewhat informal manner... or we can move forward in a more organized way, through more formal and institutional structures and processes. In this case, it is time for the latter."

On Wednesday October 24, DeGioia spoke to an audience of students and faculty expressing his "sadness" that Georgetown has too often been "hostile" toward the homosexual community. The campus newspaper, The Hoya, confirmed in an editorial that DeGioia "repeatedly committed himself" to each of the demands made by the campus homosexual activist group GU Pride.

DeGioia said, "At a Catholic and Jesuit university, [we] cannot advocate for policies or practices that are counter to Catholic teaching. Part of my responsibility as an administrator... is to ensure that nothing can compromise the integrity of our mission and identity."

Explosive ALL Video From Holy Cross

American Life League Video Exposes Holy Cross Heresy

In the video from American Life League students react with mostly apathy and puzzlement about the pro contraception and abortion conference at Holy Cross. One student says basically its no big deal and is entirely consistent since the college has "ABIGAIL," an organization of Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders, etc. on campus (with college sponsorship I'm sure). Makes sense. Once you stoop to promote sodomy, contraception and abortion aren't a stretch.

Another student exposes the completely misleading statements of Fr. McFarland, president of Holy Cross, who claimed previously that the college was only "renting space" and had not endorsed the conference. It defies logic that Planned Parenthood and NARAL couldn't find equivalent accommodations in the second largest city in New England. In the video, another student claims everyone received an email telling them to feel free to attend the conference. I'm not saying Fr. McFarland sent the email but he was surely aware of it.

It sad to see so many young people with so little regard for the Church and her teaching. But why would they be any different? With such lukewarm leadership by these college presidents, they're left to the four winds.

One student in the video gets it and even used the word "heretical." I hope the controversy this created opened the eyes of others like her. More likely, she'll be ostracized on campus. Sad.

Santa Clara Law School to Honor Lesbian Leader

Comment: Another example of a Catholic college run amok. What kind of poorly formed conscience allows a head of a Catholic college to encourage the behavior described below? Given that the surrounding culture is extreme in its view of homosexuality, it is no surprise that a secular organization would reflect the decadence of the times. But the Church and its institutions needs to be a moral compass in all times and places. Given the actions of the local Church leads, there in little hope for action against this school unless alumni and donors act.

From Cardinal Newman Society:

Santa Clara University School of Law will honor lesbian activist Elizabeth Birch at a Celebration of Diversity Gala on Oct. 25. Birch is the former executive director of the Human Rights Campaign, the leading homosexual advocacy group.

A statement by the law school identified Birch as "one of the most recognized lesbian leaders in the country." In noting her accomplishments as an activist, dean Donald Polden said, "Ms. Birch serves as a role model for our students."

In a Feb. 24, 2005 appearance on Chris Matthews' Hardball show, Birch said, "I, for one, thank God every day that the pope cannot intervene and dictate the affairs of the United States."

New President of Assumption College on Role of Catholic Colleges

This is a good sign, a Catholic College President who gets it, Francesco C. Cesareo, PhD of Assumption College in Worcester, MA.

"The challenges currently facing Catholic higher education can be traced to the late 1960s when profound structural changes impacted the religious orientation of Catholic institutions. While Catholic institutions became stronger academically - by imitating their secular counterparts - they paid little or no attention to hiring faculty with a commitment to and understanding of the religious mission of the institution; the sole focus was on academic credentials. The Catholic intellectual tradition, with its emphasis on the compatibility of faith and reason, became less prominent and, in many cases, was lost. Equally important was the shift in student demographics as fewer Catholic students attended Catholic institutions.

At some Catholic colleges, less than half the student body is Catholic. Add to this the trend toward secularism, individualism and the advocacy of a values-free education that does not acknowledge objective truth - especially moral truth - and Catholic institutions are left pondering how they can remain faithful to their religious heritage in meaningful and concrete ways. As Catholic institutions struggle with the tensions that exist between faithfulness to their religious identity and the exchange of ideas that one expects at a college or university, they also hear Pope John Paul II in Ex corde ecclesiae reminding them that these institutions must be places where "Catholicism is vitally present and operative." Catholic institutions have an obligation to engage the Catholic intellectual tradition."

Expaned LGBTQ Studies at DePaul

One can't help but wonder what is going on at DePaul. You couldn't get much more off the track from where you started than DePaul is from their Catholic roots and the core values of their namesake St. Vincent. Who are they trying to impress? Is there really a large untapped reservoir of these kinds of students that DePaul is hoping to attract? Or is it just a passing fashion to wallow in sin to be seen in the eyes of the academic elite? It's almost as if they are trying to "out-sin" their peers. Today they take the lead in that...

Gay Clubs Abound at "Catholic" St. Michael's College

The existence of a Gay Club at a Catholic College is a red flag to some devout Catholics that all is not well. Having three or more of them listed their website is even more alarming as with St. Michael's College in Vermont. Most recognized clubs are funded at least in part by the college and therefore receive tacit recognition and approval for their missions.

At St. Michael's you can pick between the Ally Group, Common Ground, Diversity Coalition, and Student Global AIDS Campaign (partnership with pro-abortion Sen. Leahy). Under the K's I looked for Knights of Columbus but only found the Knitting Club.

The proponents of these clubs will tell you that their mission is just anti-discrimination. I tested that premise at St. Michael's by challenging their Ally Club to confirm or deny that they uphold Church teaching on human sexuality by promoting abstinence and celibacy to their members. Their reply was predictably ambiguous but revealing. They do not profess to be in allegiance with the Church.

Clearly this is a Catholic College run amok with secular progressive anti-values. Clearly this college has no affiliation with the Catholic Church's Magisterium. Yet as with all the heretical schools, the local Roman Catholic Bishop of Vermont, Salvatore Matano seemingly allows this activity under his nose. Why? Is the promotion of homosexuality now such a basic human right that ignoring the moral teachings of the Catholic Church that you are nominally a part of is required?

"Catholic" DePaul University Announces Plans to Host Pro-Homosexual Conference

"He who allows himself to be ruled or guided by the lower and animal part of his nature, deserves to be called a beast rather than a man." -- Saint Vincent de Paul

As the largest Catholic university in America with over 23,000 students, DePaul University plans to host a pro-homosexual conference on October 19-20, titled: "Out There: The Second National Conference of Scholars and Student Affairs Personnel Involved in LGBTQ Issues on Catholic Campuses." Students and parents are praying, protesting and calling for its cancellation.

Creighton U President Joins List of Ivory Tower Heretics

"We are grateful to Archbishop Curtiss for severing ties with the Center, and especially for making the action public and thereby warning good Catholics away from serious scandal," said CNS President Patrick J. Reilly. "Hopefully Creighton University will take this opportunity to put the Center on the path to serious, faithful scholarship."

To actually encourage premarital sex and co-habitation is the domain of the left wing media, not Catholic Universities. Archbishop Elden Curtiss of Omaha seems to recognize that but Creighton President Rev. John Schlegel, S.J apparently doesn't. Or else he thinks administering presidential authority would restrict "academic freedom". But what can you expect? He's a Jesuit, the Catholic Church's idea of Affirmative Action.
