Boston Globe Calls Merck Emmanuel College's Angel

Well Satan is an angel, isn't he? In this article, the people who run Emmanuel College gush over the financial partnership that has enabled the college to survive and grow. Nary a mention is given to the fact that Merck does "research" on human embryos and fetal tissue from aborted babies.

The college president seems to say that Merck is OK with her as long as the immoral work they do isn't done on campus.

"...Eisner and Merck officials said the company agreed from the outset that
it would not use the facility for research that violated Catholic doctrine.
Emmanuel and Merck officials decline to discuss details of the agreement, but
said scientists were not conducting research on embryonic stem cells or aborted
fetal tissue.

"There are certain kinds of research that just aren't allowed on a
Catholic campus," Eisner said. "We know that, and they know that."

The Globe was able to find one Catholic on the campus but characterized her by political affiliation as though that was a bigger factor in forming her opinion.

"I chose Emmanuel because it is a Catholic college," said senior Marissa
Choiniere, president of the college's Republican Club. "The fact that they have
a partnership with a company that doesn't always conform to Catholic beliefs is
a little troubling. If I were running the school, I wouldn't have struck up the
relationship."

There is a mention in the article of Merck's failed campaign to make the HPV vaccine mandatory for girls age 12 and over. It doesn't mention that Merck used dishonest marketing information, like failing to mention that the vaccine only covered some of the viruses that cause HPV and that it is only partially effective. Not does it mention the deaths attributed to this dangerous vaccine. The states that had made it mandatory reversed themselves while investigations were started into possible kickbacks. But then lying come naturally to those working for the Father of Lies.

But the real kicker is that Merck uses the profits from their immorally obtained revenues to fund Planned Parenthood to the tune of millions. Now why would they choose the archenemy of life as their charity of choice? See the article in Lifesite News.

Emmanuel is typical of the Catholic colleges in the Boston archdiocese, and typical of the state of Catholicism in general there where the heretics are in charge.

Attention Cardinal O'Malley!!

Boston was once a major center of Catholic life and education. It flourished with strong support from the Irish, Italian, French and many other ethnic groups.

And now? It is a center of apostasy and shame. The state of Catholic Colleges is so bad that not one local Catholic college makes either the Cardinal Newman Society College Guide or the one put out by National Catholic Register. Indeed recent events and developments suggest these colleges are leading a full apostasy against the Church.

As reported in this blog, Merrimack College was the first stop for newly-elected secular progressive Governor Deval Patrick. His policies include support for gay marriage, abortion on demand without parental notification, expanded limitless embryonic stem cell research and cloning of humans, casino gambling and every other vice that the Church is against.

Boston College has likewise become a pit of immoral living. Seen on national TV was a proud group of BC women at the pro abortion rally in Washington DC wearing "Boston College Students for Choice" t-shirts and loudly proclaiming their support for abortion. On campus they maintain a link to Planned Parenthood and have hosted V* Monologues. Their dissident theologians are always summoned by major left-leaning main stream media for anti-Catholic opinions.

And then there's our recent story about the close ties between Emmanuel College in Boston and pharmaceutical giant Merck. The college even leases land to Merck for their Boston branch.

So corrupt are these once Catholic colleges that their sin cries to heaven for vengeance. But where is the local Bishop, in this case Cardinal Sean O'Malley? Is he not as strong as his neighbor bishop McManus of Worcester who recently warned Holy Cross College that their Catholic identity was in jeopardy? Why is this behavior allowed. Are these leaders not aware that they are alienating an entire generation of devout believers? Where is a parent to take their child if they want an authentic Catholic experience? Ohio? Virginia? When will O'Malley act in favor of Catholics? Is he too busy closing parishes and paying off abuse victims to restore Catholic identity to his archdiocese? Does he even care?

Emmanuel College's Deal With the Devil

From Lifesite News comes word about pharmaceutical giant Merck's involvement with Planned Parenthood. The profits they make by pushing the dangerous HPV vaccine on young girls, often by force of law, go directly to their support of Planned Parenthood, America's abortion provider. So what does this have to do with Catholic Colleges? Well, on the Emmanuel College (of Boston) website you find a section describing their corporate partnerships and right in the middle of it is Merck. Is Emmanuel not aware of Merck's dealings with Planned Parenthood? I doubt it but we'll await their response to our inquiry.

From Emmanuel College website:

"Taking into consideration Emmanuel's unique relationship with Merck Laboratories-Boston, Dr. Marley already sees great potential for future growth and partnered enterprises between the College and local businesses.

"The idea of innovation in teaching and connection to industry is a natural," she said. "Having Merck, which represents a significant growth industry in this region, on this campus is a wonderful opportunity, but I would also see the same opportunity for us in other avenues of the Longwood Medical area, especially considering our strong tradition with nursing and teaching. I see those as wonderful bridges as well." Dean of Graduate and Professional Programs (GPP) at Emmanuel, Dr. Judith Cox Marley
