Losing or Not Losing Your Virginity Early Causes Health Risks According to Columbia U Research

I don't usually write about non-Catholic universities but once in a while a headline is so compelling I can't resist.

The headline reads:

Waiting Too Long to Have Sex Linked to Sexual Dysfunction Later in Life, Study Says

And it goes on to say, "The study, which is will appear in the January 2008 issue of the American Journal of Public Health, found that men who lose their virginity in their 20's seemed more likely to have problems becoming sexually aroused and reaching orgasm.

But the researchers pointed out that men who started having sex early were also at an increased risk for sexual dysfunction and said further research is needed to determine if a causal interpretation can be made."

What's a poor boy to do? I only went to engineering school so the nuances of research can be baffling to the layperson like me BUT if both control groups exhibit the same result, then there is no possible way you can reach the conclusion in the headline.

Hosting Ahmadinejad was bad enough but having this piece of garbage plastered on news sites really calls into question the value of a Columbia degree, don't you think?

Gay Pride Clubs Erupt in Catholic Schools

What's going on up there in our neighbor to the north? One of my favorite and most holy Priest friends is a French-Canadian immigrant who is as faithful an apostle as i've ever met. When did the Church in Canada become so weak as to suffer such insults? Read the article on Lifesite.com.

A pertinent excerpt about gay Clubs is repeated here:

Gay Pride Clubs Erupt in Catholic Schools in Board Embroiled in Homosexuality Controversy

By John-Henry Westen WATERLOO, November 29, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An Ontario Catholic school board approached by a family issues group concerned about pro-homosexual materials in school libraries, is now facing the opening of homosexual student clubs in its high schools.

Hartnett stressed that "pastoral care of students with same sex orientation is not against our teachings as long as we follow the teachings of the Catholic Church."

She said she would likely follow up on the matter now. Asked if she was aware of such clubs prior to the newspaper report, Hartnett replied that she was, "aware that there were some students interested in that." She added again, "Pastorally there's nothing wrong with a group that will support students."

However, identification with a gay and lesbian club can be a negative way to go, according to Courage, a Roman Catholic group which is dedicated to those who struggle with same-sex attraction. Courage has been endorsed by the Pontifical Council for the Family and is approved by the Vatican.

"Having young people who are struggling with gender issues join a "gay-lesbianbisexual- transgender" group will only encourage a false and limiting type of selflabeling," said Courage in a communication to Defend Traditional Marriage and Family (DTMF).

"We believe it is most important to encourage young persons to primarily identify themselves as men and women made in the image of God. Even while acknowledging that their struggles with homosexual feelings or their experiences of gender confusion are real, they should not be encouraged to base their core identity on these difficulties," added Courage. "Christian anthropology teaches that we are created male and female - it does not teach that we are created gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered. Subjective feelings, thoughts and struggles, while real, do not translate into "identity". Also, these particular labels are often associated with political causes which are incompatible with Catholic moral teaching."

University of St. Thomas (Texas) Shows Commitment to Catholic Hiring

Comment: It's not that hard to be faithful. It doesn't take as much creativity as it does to be truly disobedient. Kudos to St. Thomas U in Texas for making the choice to be Catholic!

University of St. Thomas (Texas) Shows Commitment to Catholic Hiring

The University of St. Thomas in Houston, Tex., has embarked on a Catholic hiring program, and its recruitment for a school of education dean shows its seriousness. In a large display advertisement in the Nov. 16 issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education, UST emphasizes its Catholic identity.

The advertisement expresses the university's strong support of Ex corde Ecclesiae. It asks that applicants understand the relationship of the school to Catholic education. And it requires that applicants provide an essay "on the special role of a Catholic university in light of the document on Catholic higher education titled Ex corde Ecclesiae."

This is one example of a series of initiatives undertaken by Dr. John Hittinger, the vice president for academic affairs, to increase Catholic hiring and continue to enhance the university's strong Catholic identity. The University of St. Thomas, founded by the Basilian Fathers in 1947, is one of 21 recommended Catholic colleges and universities in

American Life League releases video report on children's sex book

WASHINGTON, D.C. · November 19, 2007 / PRNewswire / – "Parents need to know what Planned Parenthood has in store for their children and this report is an excellent starting point," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. "The book 'It's Perfectly Normal' is obscene and offensive to Christians."

American Life League's second video report exposes the contents of the book "It's Perfectly Normal." Recently, a Washington State Prison rejected a fundraising letter that included censored images from the book for being "sexually explicit" and "obscene."

American Life League released the report as a part of its continuing effort to educate the public on Planned Parenthood's activities.

"This video report is just the beginning," said Sedlak. "We will continue to use this new media to expose the nation's largest abortion chain and we call on Christians across the nation to join us in putting a stop to tax payer funds for Planned Parenthood."

Catholic St. Thomas University Votes to Sever Historic Ties with St. Paul Archdiocese

My Take: This is really unfortunate for the good Catholics who chose a Catholic college as an expression of their faith and fidelity to their religion. It is also a wake up call to the alumni and donors to the college that it has gone off the rails and is headed for a complete break with its founding and traditions. At a time when the Vatican and many bishops have expressed a need to reinvigorate the authentic teachings of the Church on Catholic campuses, this is a move in the wrong direction. Quick and forceful action by students, alumni and donors to reverse this action should be taken including a plea to the Vatican.

On another note, if Archbishop Flynn had any humility or fidelity left in his soul, he'd repudiate the move and defer to the previous arrangement.

Local Catholics stunned by move that appears designed to limit influence of new, faithful Archbishop

by Hilary White

ST. PAUL, Minnesota, November 21, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Minnesota's St. Thomas University has voted to remove the bylaw that maintained the sitting archbishop of St. Paul-Minneapolis as the Vicar General and Priest President of the University. The board of directors voted unanimously to change the university's bylaw and install soon-to-retire Archbishop Harry Flynn as chairman for a five year term. The move is feared to be an effort by the university to override the authority of and possible reforms by Archbishop John Nienstedt, Flynn's more orthodox Catholic coadjutor bishop who will fully succeed him as head of the archdiocese next year.

The surprise move has alarmed some Catholics who attend St. Thomas, the only Catholic university in the US founded directly by a bishop, who fear that the break with its historic ties to the archdiocese presages the "complete secularization" of the university, widely known as one of the US' more doctrinally liberal Catholic schools.

A memo from the board of directors said, "Implementing a process the Board Affairs Committee began last February, the board also elected Archbishop Flynn to a five-year term as chairman of the board after making appropriate changes to the university's bylaws which heretofore had stipulated that the ordinary (head) of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis serve ex officio as chairman."

Archbishop Flynn is due to offer his retirement to the Vatican next year when he turns 75, and his coadjutor bishop, John Nienstedt, is known to be a strong supporter of Catholic moral teaching and an opponent of the homosexual political movement and dissenting trends in the Church.

The university describes itself in its recently revised mission statement as "inspired by Catholic intellectual tradition," and was founded in 1885 as a Catholic seminary by Archbishop John Ireland. St. Thomas currently enrols more than 11,000 students, making it Minnesota's largest independent university.

At a meeting following the decision, about a hundred concerned students vowed to petition the university to reverse the decision. A student organiser wrote in a circular email to supporters, "By removing the ex officio position of the Archbishop, the University largely purges itself of a continual, institutionalized connection with the Church."

"With the ecclesial connection lost, we lose the presence of a continual conscience of the Board, and we can be confident of rapid secularization over a number of years," he added.

Archbishop Flynn retires after years of complaints by faithful Catholics over his handling of a host of scandals involving homosexual activists both within and without the archdiocesan administration.

Under his rule, a notoriously pro-homosexual parish, St. Joan of Arc, was allowed to continue in open support of the Gay Pride parades and homosexual lifestyle. The parish's opposition to Catholic teaching was so brazen that it resulted in 2004 in a rare direct intervention by the Vatican.

Flynn was named by homosexual political activists as one of the US's four most "gay friendly" bishops. When he publicly supported the orthodox Catholic teaching on marriage, gay activists in the Rainbow Sash Movement were furious at what they saw as a betrayal by a friend of their cause.

Nienstedt, who came to St. Paul-Minneapolis this year from the diocese of New Ulm, is well established as a defender of orthodox Catholic teachings in his diocese, especially on homosexuality. He supported the Minnesota constitutional amendment banning same-sex "marriage" and in 2004, joined the eight other Catholic bishops in spearheading a campaign for a constitutional amendment defining marriage strictly as between a man and a woman.

Catholic Schools and Colleges Dump AI Overseas but not in US?

Amnesty International reports that they have lost members and that schools and colleges have had their clubs disbanded.

In an article in the Guardian, the head of Amnesty reports the following:

In her first full interview since a senior Vatican cardinal called on Catholics worldwide to stop donating to the human rights body, Kate Allen defended the change, and revealed that only 222 of the organisation's quarter of a million British members have resigned as a result.

A further 105 have increased their donations in the wake of the claim last June by Cardinal Renato Martino, president of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, that Amnesty had "betrayed its mission" on human rights by abandoning its policy of neutrality on abortion in limited circumstances.

Allen also said she greatly regretted that eight schools in Northern Ireland have now closed or suspended their Amnesty groups following an instruction by the Catholic church in the province. Last week more than 2,000 schools in England and Wales were also advised to sever their links with Amnesty in a letter from the Catholic bishops.

But in the US, the call for Catholic colleges and universities to discontinue support for AI has come from a scattering of bloggers and pro-life web sites and not from the US Bishops at all. They either are not interested in a confrontation over the issue, are not sufficiently informed or know that the colleges will respond the way they always do, by ignoring them.

It is past due time that the bishops show some leadership on this issue and begin to reign in the colleges and universities that openly flaunt pro-abortion and pro-gay policies, of which hosting Amnesty International is just one example.

Fordham Heretic to Receive Award from Barry U

This story is so egregious it makes one want to "vomit you out of my mouth". When Jesus said to let the weeds grow amongst the wheat, he had to have Sister Elizabeth A. Johnson in mind. But why would a so-called Catholic university foist such a heretic on young people? Fordham has much to answer for in employing this heretic. Especially as her work has been picked up and spread to others.

But an award? For what? In perusing the website for Barry University, see if you can find the words "Catholic", or "Jesus". This school is clearly one of those modernist, feminist and every other -ist that the secular world churns out in regularity. That it is run by a quasi-"nun" is no surprise. That her 'order" has some legacy to St. Dominic is. According to his bio, converting heretics was a part of his ministry. Barry U seems to have gotten that a bit twisted and instead is converting folks to their own little heresy.

Catholic University to Give Award to Goddess-Worshipping Theologian
Sister Elizabeth A. Johnson advocates calling God 'She Who Is'

By Thaddeus M. Baklinski

Miami, November 13, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Department of Theology and Philosophy of Barry University which is run by the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan, will give an Award for Theological Excellence in January to radical feminist theologian Sister Elizabeth A. Johnson, a professor at Jesuit run Fordham University.

Sister Elizabeth is a radical feminist theologian who advocates goddess worship, actively dissents from the Church's infallible teaching on the invalidity of women's ordinations and promotes the cause of world government and a one-world religion.

In her book She Who Is (Crossroad, 1993) Sister Elizabeth announced "that the time has come to stop addressing God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and to begin addressing Him as 'She Who Is.'" For this she won awards and a promotion to "Distinguished" Professor of Theology at Catholic Fordham University.

Here she joins the ranks of such notables as Sister Sandra Schneiders, IHM, professor of New Testament at Berkeley's Jesuit School of Theology, who has vilified the Faith for two decades. In Beyond Patching (Paulist, 1990) Schneiders wrote that "every aspect" of the Catholic faith "is not just tainted but perverted by the evil of patriarchy. It is not that the tradition has some problems; the tradition is the problem."

Pope Benedict to Address Catholic College Heads

He also will meet April 17 with [ ] with Catholic university presidents and diocesan educators at the Catholic University of America before continuing on to New York.

This Pope does not pull punches and is not likely to be in the dark about the condition of the major Catholic colleges and universities in the US. If so, these presidents can expect some kind and gentle upbraiding. The Catholicity of Catholic institutions has been dear to this Pope's heart.

So when he is briefed about some of the stories that are repeated in this blog, he can't help but speak out.The tacit support of abortion and homosexuality that occurs overtly on US Catholic college campuses must have drawn his attention in the brief time he has been Pope. Indeed he is reported to have had a hand in Ex Corde Ecclssiae, which the major colleges ignored, as they did the USCCB directive on Catholics in Political Life.

One would hope he would urge the college presidents to guide their institutions towards the Catholic faith. But don't get your hopes up. Even if he does, they'll do what they always do - smile, and wait for him to leave.

Foreign priests in U.K. undergo training in 'Britishness'

This one really caught my eye. What in the world could a UK Catholic college teach a foreign-born Priest about "Britishness" that would serve him in his ecclesiastical capacity?

Perhaps he'll be clued in about the inner workings of the Royal family who's major characters include the British idea of a Saint, a dysfunctional, pill-popping adulteress, Princess and a bisexual Prince. To me, the better cross-training would be to send the British clerics to one of these far away lands where Priests still adhere to Church teaching and are still being martyred for their Catholic beliefs. Better yet, they could stay closer to home and meditate on the life of Saint Thomas More who willingly was martyred for a faith the British seem to have no current interest in.

The one lesson about 'Britishness' they'll catch onto fast is their abject arrogance to believe they can teach anybody anything about faith and morals. The Priests from Africa and other third world areas may well have adopted dogmas from the Church concerning homosexuality as they witness an entire continent in crisis from the AIDS epidemic. Funny how god made nature so that adherence toi His design works best for society. We call it Natural Law and it was once taught in theology class. Maybe it still is, right after Britishness.

Canterbury, England-A three-week course designed to introduce foreign priests to the British way of doing things in the Roman Catholic church has opened at Ushaw College outside Durham in Northumberland, England.

The first group of seven priests is from India, Nigeria and Poland.

"Some foreign priests working in Britain tend to be too dogmatic about the church's moral rightness on just about everything," said Rev. Terry Drainey the president of Ushaw College. "That's not how we do things here. This course shows how we deal with a whole range of issues affecting Catholics, including the role of women, divorce, the lay ministry and homosexuality.

"It is the first course of its kind and is the brainchild of Bishop Crispian Hollis of Portsmouth.

The number of foreign priests in Britain is rising as the number of home-grown priests declines. The priests undergoing training in "Britishness" come from English and Welsh parishes.

The three-week program costs 1,500 ($3,000).

Mr. Drainey said most foreign priests have a sound knowledge of English. "But we have a teacher who comes in from Newcastle University to help with colloquialisms and pronunciation." He noted, "I worked in Africa for six years and when I arrived in Kenya, I was put on a three-month course to learn something about local languages and culture and found that an enormous help."

President of HLI Admonishes Homosexual Priest

Our take - I bet Fr. Brennan will reduce this letter to just someones "opinion" as is typical of today's relativists. There is nothing in this letter that is not pure Catholic teaching on faith and morals. It should have come from this Priest's superiors however. Will we hear from them?

Priest admonishes Jesuit who announced his homosexuality: "the Mass is not your personal stage"

Front Royal, Va, Nov 9, 2007 / 12:06 pm (CNA).- Father Thomas J. Euteneur, president of Human Life International (HLI) has written an open letter to a Jesuit priest chastising the cleric for using a homily at a student Mass to declare that he was homosexual.

Father Thomas Brennan, SJ, at a Sunday evening Mass at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia tied his announcement to the Diversity Week being celebrated by the Jesuit university. He said his homosexuality was one of the "worst-kept secrets" on campus, though he neglected to explain in his homily Catholic teaching about homosexuality.

Fr. Euteneur explained the reasons for his letter to Fr. Brennan, saying that the Jesuit priest's public declaration justified a public response.

Rebuking the inappropriate way that Fr. Brennan made his announcement, the HLI president said "Holy Mass is not a forum for your self-expression. You chose the sacred liturgy and the pulpit reserved for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the launching pad for your personal testament to homosexuality, when by your own admission this was hardly a secret to anyone. One wonders if you would have inflicted details of your personal life on a friend while officiating at his wedding or any other sacred occasion. The effect would be the same: the derailing of the focus of attention from the host to you. You've read the same documents I've read about the liturgy, and all of them say the Mass is not your personal stage."

Fr. Euteneur explained the nature of the sacrament of Holy Orders, saying that a priest becomes "another Christ" and witnesses with his very body the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. In his letter he also questioned Father Brennan about the priestly sacramental witness of his sexuality. Fr. Euteneur suggested the Jesuit priest had disordered motives for embracing the celibate state:

"A heterosexual celibate renounces his natural desire for wife and children in order to serve the Bride of Christ in a direct spousal relationship. A homosexual celibate renounces an unholy desire for members of the same sex: that is a renunciation of a disorder, not the embrace of a Bride."

Fr. Brennan was also rebuked for his neglect of his congregation's needs. "When even a celibate priest chooses to go public about his homosexual identity as an expression of 'diversity" or "pride," the faithful are rightfully confused and scandalized. Not only do you owe them an apology, you owe them a better example of priesthood," Fr. Euteneur said.

In closing Euteneur urged Fr. Brennan both to be a priest who teaches clearly and unambiguously about Catholic teaching on homosexual acts, and to become a strong and loving father for his congregation.

Boycott Amnesty International on Catholic Campuses

Ivory Tower Heretics Blog is calling on Catholic Colleges and Universities to discontinue affiliation with Amnesty International over their policy to support abortion.

Amnesty International supports abortion. In their twisted logic, they believe abortion should be available due to violence against women in cases of rape and incest.

The Catholic Church teaches that ABORTION IS VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN! Not only is the procedure itself harmful to women, causing elevated risks of infertility, bleeding, breast cancer and psychological trauma, but in many countries abortion is used for sex selection, with females the intended victims. Abortion is murder of an innocent human baby, plain and simple.

The Vatican and Catholic Bishops have condemned AI's position and have even resigned from their board over this issue.

Note: Cardinal Renato Martino, president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace said that Catholics worldwide would boycott AI if it didn’t reverse the position at their biennial meeting."If in fact Amnesty International persists in this course of action, individuals and Catholic organizations must withdraw their support because, in deciding to promote abortion rights, Amnesty International has betrayed its mission," he said.

Amnesty International seems to propose that only some types of abortion can be advocated while excluding others such as forced abortions and sex selection. This is intellectually dishonest since there is no evidence that once the abortion industry sets up camp, greed isn't the prime motivator. In our own country, it is actually the rapist and family abuser who benefits most from the abortion industry as seen in Kansas where a lawsuit alleges that Planned Parenthood has covered up abortions of minors where rape and incest likely occurred. In fact, this seems to be standard procedure for Planned Parenthood as a core constituency is husbands, fathers and boyfriends who force women and girls into abortion as their "free choice".

Amnesty International was founded by a devout Catholic but has turned its back on Catholic faith and morals as the basis for human rights. They should have no place on Catholic college campuses.

We'll be listing Catholic colleges and universities in the coming days that have active AI chapters or affiliations. Here is the list today:

Georgetown University
Notre Dame
Boston College

Catholic University of America
DePaul University
Seton Hall University

Villanova University
St. Louis University
St. John's University
Santa Clara Law
University of San Francisco
Holy Cross College
Duquesne University

Jesuit Priest "Comes Out" as Gay During Sunday Mass at Catholic University Parish

University has dedicated this year's Ignatian week to race and "diversity"

Surprise! Well not really. As the article states, "...suspicions on campus related to Fr. Brennan's homosexuality may have been due to his having written a chapter in the book "Jesuit Postmodern" which was entitled "A Tale of Two Comings Out: Priest and Gay on a Catholic Campus."

Gee, you think? Forget for a moment that any sexuality being expressed by a Priest is wrong and a violation of their vows. And forget for a moment that Homosexuality is defined by the Church as "intrinsically disordered." And put aside that the Priest wasn't announcing that he was going into counseling or getting treatment. Okay, you weren't able to forget it.

The whole story is sad. It's one thing to have a weakness towards sin. It's another to stand in front of 400 students who along with their parents may have had some desire to attend a Catholic college. These particular students were, after all, attending Holy Mass.

This college apparently has decided that the new religion is secular progressive humanism as shown by their dedicating a week to "race and diversity" that was supposed to celebrate St. Ignacious and the past members of the order he founded.

I wonder what takes more courage these days, to come out as a homosexual priest or as a faithful one? Search the St. Joe website for evidence and you'll reach the inescapable conclusion that this has become a homosexualized campus. In different times, this Priest would be removed and possibly laicized. Here, they'll probably move to canonize him.

And there's the usual disclaimer from the Bishop, "The Archdiocese of Philadelphia also did not respond to a request for comment." Probably too busy balancing the finances after the many settlements of claims against homosexual priests.

Catholic Villanova U Hosts Pro-Abortion Amnesty International

The event is titled, "The NAFTA-caused crisis in Oaxaca, Mexico, and the roots of migration" and appears centered around how the NAFTA trade agreement is causing illegal immigration, though the term illegal is left off.

More importantly, Catholic leaders have been calling on Amnesty International to repudiate their recent policy change in support of abortion as a human "right" to no avail. Some Catholic bishops' conferences have gone as far as to withdraw financial and public support for AI. Apparently officials at Villanova are either unaware of unimpressed by Amnesty International's policy shift. Much press has been generated about it and some excerpts are included below.

See:
Second Catholic Leader Quits Amnesty International Over Abortion Stance Second Catholic Leader Quits Amnesty International Over Abortion Stance

The head of the Catholic Church in Scotland wrote the director of the group and said it gave him "great sadness" to renounce his membership but he can't support a group that opposes a "basic right to human life."

"As a matter of conscience and with great sadness I have decided to resign from Amnesty International having first joined as a student and supported it over many decades," Cardinal O'Brien wrote about his decision.

"In recent years I have spoken out strongly on pro-life issues including our necessity to ensure life for the poorest people of the world and have shown my care and concern by visiting some of those poorest countries especially in Africa and Asia," he explained.

"Sadly now Amnesty International seems to be placing itself at the forefront of a campaign for a universal 'right' to abortion in contravention to that basic right to human life," the Catholic official said.

and:
Founded by a Catholic in 1961, Amnesty International Reaffirms Pro-Abortion Position

Before the vote, Cardinal Renato Martino, president of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, promised Catholics worldwide would boycott the human rights group.
"If in fact Amnesty International persists in this course of action, individuals and Catholic organizations must withdraw their support because, in deciding to promote abortion rights, Amnesty International has betrayed its mission," he said.

Bishop William Skylstad, president of U.S. Catholic bishops' conference, echoed the call for a boycott in July.

He said the decision to endorse abortion "undermines Amnesty's long-standing moral credibility, diverts its mission, divides its own members (many of whom are Catholic or defend the rights of unborn children), and jeopardizes Amnesty's support by people in many nations, cultures and religions."

Once again, there are directives against giving platforms to people or organizations that are in opposition to the mission of the Church. Amnesty International seems to fit the description.

Catholic School Board Committee Approves Pro-Gay Manual, Does Not Teach Homosexual Acts Sinful

Our take - the local Bishop must move to protect the Catholicity of the institutions under his authority for the sake of the good and honest Catholic families that send their children to "Catholic" schools. If this moral decay is allowed to progress in Catholic schools, eventually there will not be any. We already are seeing a generation of religious illiterates as a result of failed religious education programs. This incident is a direct result of the secularization of religion.

Director of the Board says, "differences of opinion in areas like theology, faith, and morals" is "natural and healthy for a living, dynamic Church"

By John-Henry Westen

WATERLOO, Ontario, November 2, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Family Life Advisory Committee (FLAC) of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) met last night to consider objections to a pro-homosexual teacher resource manual which were raised by the local group Defend Traditional Marriage and Family (DTMF). Despite a petition signed by nearly 500 Catholic parents opposing the book, FLAC decided to retain "Open Minds to Equality" in an 11-5 vote.

Page 16 of the book states: "The heterosexism in our society fosters homophobia, the fear and hatred of homosexuality which is grounded in prejudice and stereotyping." The book provides role play and group activities which train children into viewing the homosexual lifestyle as normal and natural.

Of note, at the meeting one of the members, asked if students in the Catholic schools of the board are taught "that homosexual acts" are sinful. The response from the board was "no."

Gay Clubs at Catholic Colleges

In 1986, the Magisterium issued the instruction, the Letter to Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons. The then Cardinal Ratzinger wrote, "All support should be withdrawn from any organizations which seek to undermine the teaching of the Church, which are ambiguous about it, or which neglect it entirely. Such support, or even the semblance of such support, can be gravely misinterpreted. Special attention should be given to the practice of scheduling religious services and to the use of Church buildings by these groups, including the facilities of Catholic schools and colleges. [emphasis mine] To some, such permission to use Church property may seem only just and charitable; but in reality it is contradictory to the purpose for which these institutions were founded, it is misleading and often scandalous."

Yet why do schools like Georgetown seem hellbent on doing all they can to edify the homosexual groups on their campuses? One school we wrote about, St. Michael's College in Vermont, has more gay clubs, three, than Catholic service or ministry ones. Can one say with certainty that these colleges are not Catholic in light of the statement by then Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI?

The new President of Assumption, Francesco C. Cesareo, tried to make some room for the existence of Gay clubs on Catholic campuses when he said the following:

"Regarding homosexuality, all men and women are created in the image of God and thus deserve respect because of the basic human dignity we all share. Therefore, on a Catholic campus it is not uncommon or inconsistent to have support groups for gay students since this is a concrete expression of the church's call for respect. This does not mean that we endorse or advocate this lifestyle or behavior. Gay student organizations must operate within the parameters of church teachings by not sponsoring any activities that promote a homosexual lifestyle or same-sex marriage as legitimate lifestyles."

Unfortunately the means these groups use to get a foothold at these colleges is pure deception. They play on the tradition of Christian charity and tolerance and twist it to the point where the Catholic institution is actually helping establish and fund a club who's primary purpose is a place for hookups for those who practice sodomy.

Such deception and the willingness to be deceived have led to an explosion in such clubs, a distraction from the mission of the institution and an eroding of basic morality. A Church hierarchy itself compromised by homosexuality stands by and allows such things no matter how loud the faithful protest.

The Ivory Tower Heretics are in charge.
