Creighton Backs Down

Isn't the Internet wonderful? It affords no place for the apostate Catholic college to hide anymore. Gone are the days that these heretics can fly under the radar with their heretical actions, guest speakers and clubs. From LifeSite:

Blogger's Posting of Catholic University's Invite to Abortion/Euthanasia Activist Results in Cancellation

University states speaker Ann Lamott was "inappropriate choice" but only because this was "a featured lecture"

By Meg Jalsevac OMAHA, Nebraska, August 29, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - On Sunday, August 26 the Catholic blog Defend Us In Battle.org publicized the fact that Creighton University of Omaha, Nebraska, a Catholic institution, had scheduled abortion and euthanasia activist Ann Lamott to give the keynote address at a 2007 Center for Health Policy & Ethics lecture for women on September 19th. Lamott is nationally known as an author and speaker who promotes her own self-proclaimed perspective as a "Jesusy" individual who is a "Christian and feminist."

"Catholic" U Welcomes John Kerry

What part of "thou shalt not" is too hard for these heretics on Catholic campuses? John Kerry. along with fellow apostates Kennedy, Leahy and the entire Massachusetts House delegation have done more harm to humankind and Catholic teaching than anyone in history.

By promoting sin as law, abortion on demand, counterfeit marriage, and blocking school vouchers, few politician could lay more claim to Antichrist than this cabal. Yet the usual secular power wannabes can't help themselves when picking their guest speakers. Church teaching be damned!

Ivory Tower Idiots Open Muslim Public School in NYC

ANN ARBOR, MI - Claiming it is nothing more than a thinly disguised incubator for Islamist radicalization, the Thomas More Law Center, a national Christian public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, announced today that it will represent a group of citizens opposed to the September 4 opening of the publicly funded Khalil Gibran International Academy (KGIA) by the New York City Department of Education. KGIA, which will immerse its students in Islamic culture, has three fundamentalist Islamist imams on its Board of Advisors, as well as other promoters with connections to militant Islamic organizations.

"This proposed public school is nothing more than an incubator for the radicalization that leads to terrorism, as a NYPD Intelligence Report warned Americans just about two weeks ago," cautioned Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Law Center. "Rather than use the public school system to assimilate Muslims and other immigrants into American culture, New York City is doing everything it can to keep them isolated - a target rich environment for recruiting potential new homegrown terrorists and a recipe for a future 911 disaster, according to my read of the NYPD Report," said Thompson.

Expaned LGBTQ Studies at DePaul

One can't help but wonder what is going on at DePaul. You couldn't get much more off the track from where you started than DePaul is from their Catholic roots and the core values of their namesake St. Vincent. Who are they trying to impress? Is there really a large untapped reservoir of these kinds of students that DePaul is hoping to attract? Or is it just a passing fashion to wallow in sin to be seen in the eyes of the academic elite? It's almost as if they are trying to "out-sin" their peers. Today they take the lead in that...

Gay Clubs Abound at "Catholic" St. Michael's College

The existence of a Gay Club at a Catholic College is a red flag to some devout Catholics that all is not well. Having three or more of them listed their website is even more alarming as with St. Michael's College in Vermont. Most recognized clubs are funded at least in part by the college and therefore receive tacit recognition and approval for their missions.

At St. Michael's you can pick between the Ally Group, Common Ground, Diversity Coalition, and Student Global AIDS Campaign (partnership with pro-abortion Sen. Leahy). Under the K's I looked for Knights of Columbus but only found the Knitting Club.

The proponents of these clubs will tell you that their mission is just anti-discrimination. I tested that premise at St. Michael's by challenging their Ally Club to confirm or deny that they uphold Church teaching on human sexuality by promoting abstinence and celibacy to their members. Their reply was predictably ambiguous but revealing. They do not profess to be in allegiance with the Church.

Clearly this is a Catholic College run amok with secular progressive anti-values. Clearly this college has no affiliation with the Catholic Church's Magisterium. Yet as with all the heretical schools, the local Roman Catholic Bishop of Vermont, Salvatore Matano seemingly allows this activity under his nose. Why? Is the promotion of homosexuality now such a basic human right that ignoring the moral teachings of the Catholic Church that you are nominally a part of is required?

Heretics Lead Tours at Anna Maria College

Tucked away in a picturesque, country setting just a few miles outside of Worcester, MA, Anna Maria College provides the appearance of the perfect match for any Catholic interested in a small college atmosphere. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell the tour guide to be careful in case any actual Catholics come to visit.

As she described the curriculum, she explained how the required religion class for freshmen was Religions of the World and would include readings from the Qu'ran. In your second year, you would take a course on Catholic theology but "we don't require reading the Bible, though, so everyone including non-Catholics can feel welcome".

It's sad to admit but the comments uttered by the tour guide at Anna Maria College are typical of what you get at "Catholic" Colleges these days. In fact they tracked very closely with what we heard at Stonehill and Merrimack in Massachusetts and Saint Michael's in Vermont when my son was looking at colleges.

Why would anyone choose to go to a Catholic College that isn't really Catholic? Wouldn't it make more sense to choose from the thousands of non-Catholic colleges that aren't trying hard to be something they're not? Who runs these schools? Where is the quality control from the Church? Why is it so in vogue to distance oneself from the Church founded by Jesus Christ Himself while advertising that you are part of it?

When will the Bishops step in and take action to reign in these heretics? Bishop McManus of Worcester is by all accounts a fine man and loyal to the Pope and Magisterium. But why do schools like Anna Maria and Holy Cross continue to flaunt their apostasy right under his nose?

Anna Maria gets added to the list of Ivory Tower Heretics.
